Wednesday 22. november 2017: Working at EasyMile for 10 month. Critical real-time software in C, simulation and monitoring in Haskell perfect combo! It’s efficient and funny ;-)

Monday 18. july 2016: Updates on my new simulation framework project in Haskell.

Friday 25. march 2016: Dear backers, unfortunately, the FUN project was not successfully funded. I will now focus on FRP (Functional Reactive Programming) applied to real-time critical system specification and simulation.

ADSL modems on Linux

*box / ethernet modems with DHCP

A lot of providers use ethernet modems and the DHCP protocol. Thus the pump command can simply establish the connection. The following script can also automatize the connection at each boot.

Just download and run this script: box

Speedtouch USB/330

This script has been fixed for Knoppix 5. I don’t have this modem anymore and can not test it. Some users (not all) have reported that the connection is now possible with Knoppix 5.

Installation with kernels 2.4 and 2.6

Known modems:

This script allows the connection from Knoppix installed on the hard disk or from the live CD.

This script (not necessarily the last version) is included in Kaella and is found in the Knoppix menu.

Just download and run this script: speedtouch-usb

I hope this works because I can’t make it simpler…

This script is a self-extracting archive. For the curious, here is how it is generated.

You’ll need these files:

Archive generation script adsl
Connection script
Firmwares firmware
Firmware extraction usb.agent
Missing file for Knoppix 5 hotplug.functions ! Missing file for Knoppix 5

The build script extracts the firmwares from the zip file and produces a tar bzip2-compressed file. This archive is then concatenated to a script that decompresses the archive and run the adsl script.

For further information, please visit Self-extracting Archive HOWTO.

Yann Cochard
for choosing this script for Kaella, Helmuth Breitenfellner
for the german translation,
for many tests and remarks, and …
all these I forget.
